LIMITED EDITION CLASSIC LPs. HIGH-DEFINITION PREMIUM VINYL PRESSING FOR SUPER FIDELITY. 180 gram VINYL -AUDIOPHILE PRESSING. Both Frank Sinatra and Count Basie were highly regarded musicians when they recorded their first album together Sinatra-Basie (Reprise R9-1008) in 1962. It was arranged by Neal Hefti (1922-2008) who had a lot to do with the fact that the Count Basie band was still active in the 1960s. In October 1957 Count Basie had recorded the album E=MC2 also known as The Atomic Mr. Basie. It became one of the top-hit LPs by the Basie band and featured splendid arrangements and compositions by Hefti. Sinatra had also recorded previously with Neal Hefti. In fact Sinatra and Swinging Brass (Reprise R9-1005) was taped by Sinatra with Hefti a few months before the Sinatra-Basie collaboration. “I’ve waited twenty years for this moment” said Frank Sinatra before entering the studio to begin work on Sinatra-Basie one of the most eagerly anticipated LPs of the time. Teaming the inimitable vocal stylings of the Chairman of the Board with the potent propulsive alchemy of the Count Basie orchestra Sinatra-Basie was indeed an album worth the wait. An historic musical first Sinatra-Basie features ten extraordinary selections recorded over a period of two weeks in late 1962.
