Description
180 GRAM VINYL. AUDIOPHILE PRESSING. DIRECT METAL MASTERING. LIMITED EDITION. From their early years The Isley Brothers wrote and recorded their own brand of scintillating music producing a wealth of timeless and tasteful grooves that have influenced generations of musicians. They released a plethora of classic soul high-spirited R&B and joyful rock & roll tracks that shocked the world and would later influence bands like The Rolling Stones and The O’Jays. This Vinyl Lovers collector’s edition includes The Isley Brothers’ famous full-length debut album Shout! which was issued on the RCA-Victor label in the summer of 1959. It was the first LP of the band’s multi-decade career and their signature raw-edged soul is fully formed here and comes on like gangbusters. The album was produced by Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore (who saw the trio as a potential crossover pop act in the same manner that they would later treat Sam Cooke) and includes rousing versions of show tunes (“That Lucky Old Sun”) early rock & roll (their version of “Rock Around the Clock” blows Bill Haley’s out of the water) R&B-gospel numbers (“Yes Indeed” “When the Saints Go Marching in”) torchy ballads (“Turn to Me”) hymns (“He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”) standards (“How Deep Is the Ocean” “St. Louis Blues”) and including the fabulous first single “Shout (part 1 & 2)” which became a favorite with garage bands and R&B fanatics. We have also added 4 bonus tracks from the same period including the more raucous and passionate single version of the aforementioned “Respectable” a re-cut release that was issued in November 1959 (although it didn’t chart it later became a garage band hit for The Outsiders).
