This release contains the complete set recorded by the Miles Davis Sextet at the Newport Jazz Festival in July of 1958.
The group was one of the most revered in jazz history with a frontline featuring the leader on trumpet John Coltrane on tenor sax and Cannonball Adderley on alto sax plus the rhythm section of Bill Evans on piano Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums. This same group which sadly didn’t last long would record the unforgettable Kind of Blue just six months later.
As a bonus we have added rare broadcast performances by the Miles Davis Quintet and Sextet recorded during the same period.

MILES DAVIS trumpet
JOHN COLTRANE tenor sax
CANNONBALL ADDERLEY alto sax [out on 6]
BILL EVANS piano
PAUL CHAMBERS bass
JIMMY COBB drums
