Ahmad’s Blues presents a selection of tunes recorded by the Ahmad Jamal Trio at the Spotlight Club (also known as Spotlite). As renowned jazz producer John Hammond stated the 1958 Pershing and Spotlight performances marked the turning point in Ahmad Jamal’s career even though they were not the pianist’s first recordings. Scorned by the critics but worshiped by musicians and public alike the Ahmad Jamal Trio was the biggest selling jazz group on records in 1958.

AHMAD JAMAL piano; ISRAEL CROSBY bass; VERNELL FOURNIER drums
Live at the Spotlight Club Washington September 5-6 1958.
Original sessions produced by Dave Usher.
