This release contains the complete original album The Swinging Side of Nat “King” Cole (Capitol SW 1724). A studio recording it showcases the leader backed by the Count Basie Orchestra with Gerald Wiggins on piano instead of the Count (who couldn’t appear due to contractual reasons). Dave Cavanaugh is the arranger on that album and on Nat King Cole at the Sands (Capitol SMAS 2434) which was taped live in Las Vegas in 1960 and is presented here in its entirety as a bonus.
