When the Dead hit the road in June 1976， they’d been on hiatus for almost two years. None of their power had been lost， however， as is demonstrated on the three performances from that summer offered in this set. Also included are a gig from late 1978 (which finds them on fiery form despite tour fatigue and Jerry Garcia’s sore throat)， and a fine benefit show from January 1980. Originally recorded for FM broadcast， all the performances typify the band’s stupendous interplay， and are presented with background notes and images.
