Description
The first member of Pink Floyd to release a solo album David Gilmour still only beat Richard Wright to the finishing line by a matter of a few months. The eponymous 1978 record was met with largely positive reviews and reasonable success reaching as it did a respectable No.17 on the UK album chart. Fast forward 6 years and it was time for album No. 2 from Gilmour the highly regarded About Face released 5th March 1984 with lyrics to two cuts by Pete Townshend and featuring a sublime roster of musicians which included Steve Winwood Jeff Porcaro Anne Dudley Jon Lord and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Within a month of its release Gilmour and band set out on the road to tour the record a jaunt which lasted from March 31 to July 16 ‘84 covering Europe and North America. On 24th April the entourage performed an electric show at Stockholm’s Johanneshovs Isstadion which captured the essence of the entire tour better than any other date on the outing. Featured on this double CD package is a perfect FM broadcast recording of this Swedish concert including the entire show which is now available for fans to own for the first time.
